On Google Play, AI discovery now builds its answers from your store listing and user reviews, Play Console got a new design, and a policy update arrived on October 29.

This recap covers changes from October 1 to October 31, 2026. Until now, Apple used it only for featured apps. Now any app can add one, as an image or a 5 to 30 second video.

Search results asset, which we’ll call the search banner. On iOS 27, it replaces your screenshots and app preview in search results and takes up more space than the usual screenshot row. It can also be an image or a 5 to 30 second video. If you don’t upload one, search results show your screenshots as before.

Videos in both placements loop and start muted. Users can turn the sound on for the product page header, but not in search results. You can check this in detail in the creative assets specifications.

Two catches. First, the header only appears on iOS 27. If Apple already featured your app with a header, uploading your own replaces it for everyone, so users on older iOS versions will see no header at all. Second, for now app preview videos currently don’t show on iOS 27, neither on product pages nor in search. Until Apple fixes this, the search banner is the only way to show iOS 27 users more than static screenshots.

Action: design a search banner first. It doesn’t have to show your interface: Apple’s own examples use brand art and short headlines. Add a header only if you have no featuring header, or most of your users are already on iOS 27.

App Store: Asset Library, live previews and a new default screenshot size

The same update added the Asset Library, one place for all your screenshots, app previews and creative assets. You upload a set once and reuse it in custom product pages. Everything you have ever uploaded is already there, and you can rename assets.
